STEEL WCB - PARAMETERS AND ANALOGUES

WCB steel is increasingly being built into the Russian market, both in the form of raw materials and in the form of parts of finished equipment. We decided to give you a short and complete overview of this steel and its characteristics.

 

WCB Steel - Parameters and Analogs

Analogue of A216 WCB steel according to GOST WCB steel is the most common and simplest version of cast carbon steel. This material is “Standard” for many applications and parts.

 

According to ASTM A216, WCB - refers to steel for use in standard (normal) temperature conditions, normal pressures, and also in non-corrosive environments without aggressive components.

 

STEEL BRAND WCB CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING CODING:

WC - wroughtcarbon, literally translated as forged carbon. However, it is cast carbon steel with the additional letters A (WCA), B (WCB) and C (WCC), where each letter represents the class of Tensile Strength and Toughness.

This steel is suitable for pipe fittings (valves, valves, gate valves, valves, etc.), as well as for pipeline parts. Also, it is worth noting that WCB is cheap to manufacture, as it is cast steel and is not suitable for high pressure pipe fittings (such as high pressure ball valves) because there may be pores during casting.

As you can see, the closest in chemical composition are steels 25L and 35L, however, in cases of low, boundary, for steels 25L and 35L, the manganese content can significantly affect the tensile strength of the final steel. It is important to keep the balance of Carbon and Manganese to obtain the perfect combination of tensile strength and toughness of the resulting steel.

 

Pipe fittings made of WCB steel All this is important in the manufacture of parts for pipe fittings for a specific purpose. It should be noted that for these steels, the preferred content is Carbon at the level of 0.25 - 0.30% and manganese at the level of 0.80 - 1.0%. Thus, when searching for alternatives for WCB steel and vice versa, it is worthwhile to look closely at 25L steel.
